sooo long story short: three days, two nights in animal hospital, an iv drip, a multitude of xrays, an ultrasound, and $1600 later...and the animal authorities still have no clue why waffle was feeling so crummy. she is back home now, albeit a but worse for the wear...

but at least she is home in my loving care. and she certainly looks a bit better than she did the first time i visited her:

as you can see, she has an entire "lap band" shaved around her waist. i can only hope she manages to grow this fur back... if not i shall knit her a sweater, or coozy of sorts. she'll love it.
here are some more of the doctors' notes and comments that were sent home with wafflehouse:
11/11/09
*"diffuse alopecia due to previously diagnosed and treated skin issues"
*"alert and friendly, a little overweight"
*"both kidneys appear small"
11/12/09
*"quiet, alert, reactive and very friendly tonight"
*"offered her food which she seemed eager to eat, but then started licking her lips and backed away"
11/13/09
*"wafflehouse is eagerly eating her kibble!"
*"unable to hear the heart and lungs due to her incessant purring"
i now prove myself to be the crazy cat lady with further cat/pet related incidents this past week....
i accompanied a dear friend and her sick kitty to the humane society on friday. there in the waiting i spied:
*one gangsta/thug wannabe with his "pitbull in his hand, he goes cruising round the land" or something of that nature.
*one MORBIDLY OBESE beagle (?) that must have weighed over 70 lbs.
*a woman who requested to take home a vial containing some of the assorted kidney stones that were removed from her dog. i can only hope she is going to make a necklace out of them.
..........................
more updates to come on waffle. right now she is "quiet, unreactive, and not alert" but that is because she is sleeping.
i almost cried when i saw those pics. then i almost threw up. i think i'd take a week off of work and sit with a spray bottle, ready to strike whenever she went to eat her fur off. does she get an unusually high amount of furballs?
ReplyDeleteshe didnt do it to herself! they shaved her bald so they could do an ultrasound.
ReplyDeletebut dear god if she consumed all that fur... i dont even want to think about the results. (okay i am thinking about it. and i would bet: severe constipation)
OH! that is so much better than what i was thinking. wonder who would pet waffie if she were in a cat cafe?
ReplyDeleteI would pet waffie where ever she was. as well as both of you.
